Days of lawlessness, intimidation in revenue collection over in Edo – Shaibu

By Simon Ebegbulem

DEPUTY Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu says the days of lawlessness, intimidation and harassment of innocent citizens in the name of revenue collection is over in the state.

Shaibu who declared this yesterday when he received the National Executive members of the Road Transport Employers Association(RTEAN), who paid him a courtesy visit, said the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki decided to review and restructure revenue collection in the state so as to give it a human face unlike what was obtainable when the state government revenue was being collected by private individuals.

According to him, “When we were campaigning, we did promise to maintain law and order, and security of lives and property. So, this administration will not abdicate its responsibilities in that regard. The state government has constantly been embarrassed with different kinds of agitations by members of the public to the extent that when we are passing by, people requested that we should stop activities of ‘Agberos’, and stop ticketing among other requests.
