No fewer than 12 undergraduate orphans from different institutions were recently awarded scholarships, while the school fees of several other were paid by a group of women under the auspices of International Inner Wheel District 911 in Lagos.

The gesture, according to the Chairman of the group, Mrs Wemimo Olasanya, was part of activities marking the organisation’s 93rd anniversary and celebration of its Founder, Mrs Margaret Golden.

“Inner Wheel is all about showing love and in line with our theme for the year, Touch a Heart, we decided it was best to relieve orphans of one of their major burdens—educational need. Today, we have also given cash and gifts to about half a dozen widows,” she said.

Earlier same day also, the group visited the Isolo General Hospital where they gave out gifts items to the first baby of the day, being their Founder’s day. Olasanya and her team were received by the Deputy Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Femi Adeyanju, and the Chief Matron.
