The Association of Resident Doctors in Ogun state has said it will soon embark on indefinite strike over failed promises by the Federal Government.
The executives of Ogun state chapter from three public health institutions, Federal Medical Centre, Abeo-kuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu and Neuropychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, gave this warning in Abeokuta while briefing newsmen .
The President of the body in OOUTH, Sagamu, Dr. Akintola Akintunde, listed their grievances to include the exclusion of resident doctors from the pension scheme, non-implemen-tation of national health act, and non-payment of salaries to members in some parts of the state among others. He expressed dissatis-faction over the state of health centres across the country, saying that Nigeria has one of the poorest indices and poor health facilities.
It would be recalled that the National Association of Residents doctors had already given the federal government 21-days ultimatum which was between 12th, December, 2016 to January 2nd, 2017, and also added 10-days to it, which expired on Thursday 12th of January, 2017.
