The Imo State Labour Congress is said to be  preparing for a show down with the state government over divergent issues that have made “worse “ their working condition in the state.

Investigation by Vanguard, yesterday, confirmed that labour also has given Imo state government “21 days“,  after which they will embark on the planned protest.

In a meeting, which they held in Owerri along Port-Hacourt  road, part of their grievances was that “it is against the labour law to fill a form before receiving your entitlements.”

They also frowned at their working condition as it affected their welfare.

A source told Vanguard that labour in the state was irked by the “rumoured” plan to sack workers particularly at the local government level.

He went further to say that the leadership of labour in the state, was no longer comfortable with the 70/30 percent agreement on payment of salaries.

The reason given was that Imo state government has allegedly refused to declare the “total revenue income “ as “entrenched in their agreement with the Imo state government.”

When Vanguard asked of what significant it will  be to know the total revenue of the government, he said: “ In line with the agreement we entered with the Imo state government,  by now, it would have been reviewed.”

They also made  mention of  the alleged sack of over 200 workers of the Imo Transport Company, ITC, as well as workers of Adapalm and their entitlements as part of the reasons for the looming protest.
