The Nigeria Customs Service has denied reports that the Service recently sacked some officers this year.
Making the clarification, the Customs Spokesman, Joseph Attah, said that the circular being referred to by the media, was merely an internal communication memo, which emanated from the Discipline Seat, to officially intimate officers and men of the Service in respect of those who were sacked or dismissed last year, so as to prevent misrepresentation, based on ignorance on the part of serving officers.

“The truth is that the circular being quoted by some journalists is actually a compilation of all those who were dismissed last year, for official purposes. It is not true to say that the CG has dismissed another batch of 49 or 59 Customs officers.
“The circular being quoted, dated January 19, 2017 was an internal memo, to all Customs formations, to officially intimate all officers of development, in respect of some of their former colleagues, as per the disciplinary actions of last year,” Attah said.
