Jos – The newly appointed Provost of the Federal College of Education, FCE, Pankshin, Plateau State, Dr. Amos Cirfat, has urged staff of the College to be serious with their jobs so they can achieve high productivity and avoid indolence and bickering as such would no more be tolerated in the institution.

Cirfat in his inaugural addressed of staff described such habit as “damaging and cancerous”, warning that he would not entertain any sycophancy but ideas on how best to move the College forward.

He however promised to complete ongoing projects, create and nurture platforms toward promoting Public Private Partnership (PPP) and linkages with national and international donor agencies to raise funds for smooth running of the College as well as promote prudent use of resources and do all to support the parent Education Ministry and the Federal Government toward attaining the goal of sustainable national development.

His words, “We adhere to work ethics and tackle all problems of inefficiency and capacity collapse by acting justly and fairly to due process not only paying lip service to ethical conduct. I am aware that staff welfare in the College is very critical and important for quality service delivery, therefore proper mechanisms would be put in place to ensure that welfare services are adequately provided to improve morale for improve productivity in workplace.

“We will provide level playing ground for all the staff and students in the College and create a good working relationship among staff, students and the host community.”

Staff who spoke during the forum promised to do their best to ensure that the College attains the desired heights and the COEASU Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Hemba, said the academic staff would give the Provost the maximum cooperation and support for him to succeed adding, “But sir, that does not mean that we will not bite when there is any issue at stake between the Management and our Union.”
