A big market in Yola, Adamawa state, the “Old Market,”  as it is popularly called is currently engulfed by fire.

Eye-witness account say the fire which is currently burning the market situated at Jimeta area of the Adamawa state capital started around 7 p.m when shop owners had all gone home.

However, the source said the Adamawa fire service is currently battling to put the fire out.

It also said a large crowd has gathered at the scene but the security operatives have barred them from entering the scene for fear of the crowd loot the traders’ goods.
