As some people clock 50 years, they begin to stare at retirement with anxiety. Many people put in 30 to 40 years before retirement. During these years of active service, some acquire reasonable assets and wealth to retire on. But it is not so for some; turning 50 becomes nightmarish because they realize they are getting to the end of their working life with little or nothing to fall back on in retirement.

CANDIDATE of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded overnorship election in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, yesterday led other PDP leaders and supporters in the state in a street protest against the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the September 28 election in the state.

Governor elect of Edo state, Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki began his journey to Osadebey Avenue Government House last Tuesday with a visit to the palace of the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Ehenede Erediauwa. He was accompanied to the palace by the out-going governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, his wife Iara, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the state led by its chairman, Anselm Ojezua, and Chief of Staff to the governor, Patrick Obahiagbon (Igodomigodo).

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, last week, raised a 24-man committee on Constitution and Electoral Reform headed by former Senate President Ken Nnamani. Among others, the committee is expected to look into possible amendments to the Constitution and Electoral Act and come out with a more robust and generally acceptable electoral system.
