THE Lagos State Government on Friday met with all the stakeholders from Mile 12 market, Agiliti community, Maidan and its environs aimed at finding a lasting solution to the violence that led to the closure of the Mile 12 market with a promise that a harmonious and effective solution would be put in place in the next few days.

A randy young man from Kano abducts, kidnaps, or elopes (with) a damsel in Bayelsa, and the whole country is in confusion! Well, not the entire, but, at least, some people seem to be at a loss. Yes, some aspects of the matter appear to be odd—though not against the normal ethos of the country. Yes, it is only natural that one should be concerned, but there is a limit to everything though the itch dictates the scratch, and that is for the man itching to say; and the man, or woman, indeed said it loud this time.

It was not difficult locating Kauyen Tofa, ancestral home of Yunusa Dahiru, a.k.a. Yellow, the lover-boy believed to have abducted Bayelsa teenager, Ese Rita Oruru. The dusty and sleepy village lies 40km West of Kano, and the only feeder road that links Yunusa’s village to the outside world is a sad reminder of total neglect by those saddled with the position of authority in Nigeria.

Last Monday’s abduction of three female students from their hostel at the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary (BMJS), Ikorodu, has exposed the inability of security agents in Lagos State to curb the activities of pipeline vandals operating in the Arepo, Ogun State, close to Ikorodu, Lagos. The vandals who are mainly militants from the Niger Delta, had held sway for a long time in the area and it’s environ as they masterminded the vandalism of pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and siphoned the contents within Arepo. They are also behind the incessant bank robberies in Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac and Agbara areas of Lagos and Ogun States, during which they carted large sums of money and killed several residents including policemen.
