Police arrest 6 over drowning of man in Delta

OJOBO – SIX persons have been detained by the police in connection with the drowning of an unidentified man at Ojobo community, Burutu council area of Delta State.

The victim who is Ibo by tribe resides at Yenegoa, Bayelsa State and was said to have travelled to Delta for the burial of the father of a friend identified as Eddy Seibai.

Though details of his death was sketchy as at press time, it was gathered that following his death, some members of the community (Ojobo) volunteered to carry his corpse to his parents at Yenegoa only for them to be detained at the Yenegoa ‘A’ Division.

According to witnesses at the community, the victim who was not too good at swimming, had gone to the jetty by the river side where he was reported to have drowned.

Those arrested are: Macaulay Sedico, Prince Kadey Godwin, College Numune, Ejike Ogbagwu, Bob Solo and Eddy Seibai.

Though five of those arrested were released yesterday afternoon, sources at the poluce station disclosed that Eddy Seibai was still in detention and would be transfered to the Delta State police headquarters, Asaba for further investigation.
