Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant in 2011, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, says that despite losing  the Presidency to the All Progressive Congress (APC), the PDP remained Africa’s largest political party.

Onuesoke spoke during the end-of-year party  organized by PDP Solidarity Youths Forum in Kano, adding that it was inimical for anyone  to say that PDP was no longer Africa’s largest party, when it was obvious that  the  current leadership of APC was being controlled by PDP members of 2014 and 2015.

“Is it in the Senate or the House of Representative, or even the office of governor? You will discover that seventy five percent of the current office holders are members of PDP who either decamped to other parties, while others are still in PDP. The beauty of it is that majority of the PDP defectors to APC are loyal to PDP and this  is where PDP makes the difference,” Onuesoke observed.

He said that despite the PDP’s  loss of the Presidency to the APC  but it was still large enough to act as a formidable opposition to the ruling party, adding that  PDP still had about 12 states in its’ control as well as the Deputy Senate Presidency, and a handful of Senators and \Members of the House.

“If you go to any unit in the country and shout PDP, even a child will reply, because the party has structures in all parts of the country. No other political party has such national reach. Our party remains the largest party in Africa”.

He appealed to leaders of the party to close ranks  as they moved closer to 2019 general elections for maximum result.
