Man stabbed dead in Ondo

Akure—A middle aged man, William Adesoji, was reportedly stabbed to death in Okitipupa area of Ondo state during a festival tagged “Obo festival”.

The ugly incident which occurred in a popular hotel in town made  Christmas festivities a sad one in the area.

It was gathered that Obo festival was introduced by the owner of the hotel, where the incident occurred, in Omotosho three years ago.

It was learnt that the festival was always celebrated every December with customers gathering to commit all kinds of promiscuity.

Reports had it that customers were treated to a wild and unending entertainment after buying only a bottle of beer which qualified such customers to drink more freely to his satisfaction.

Part of the entertainment during the festival was when sex became a free-for-all competition and prizes were given out by the management of the hotel to the best performerý

A source told Vanguard “The real game is that a foam mattress would be placed in the open, a male customer who cared no damn would engage one of the prostitutes in marathon bouts of sex.

“They both would be rewarded with cash gifts ranging between five and ten thousand naira, depending on performance.

“The game was on when the wife of the proprietor asked one of the customers to stand up from a chair, claiming that she was sitting on it. The argument degenerated into the woman slapping the man.

“Not knowing what had transpired, the deceased rushed to the scene, grabbed a bottle, broke it and dealt it on the head of the customer (name withheld ) now in the hospital under police surveillance,” the source added.

“A friend of the murdered man, who was with her also picked up a bottle, broke it and stabbed William on the stomach, with his intestines bugging out and died on the spot.”

However, the state Police Image Maker, Femi Joseph, said the detail of the incident was yet to get to the state Command because of the holiday.

Joseph promised to get in touch with the DPO in the area and get back but as at the time of filling this report he was yet to brief Vanguard.ý
