Ado Ekiti—Tension rose in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, yesterday, as an engineer, Mr. Kunle Enisan, was assassinated barely 24 hours after the murder of the state Police Command’s paymaster, Mr. Idowu Taiwo, on the streets of Ado Ekiti by unknown gunmen.
Enisan, father of two, who was in his early 40’s and an employee of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, was killed Monday evening at Housing Estate, along Afao Road.
The deceased’s in-law, Mr. Adeoye Aribasoye, said Enisan was returning home with his wife in his Toyota Highlander SUV and had a stopover on the way, while his wife went home.
He said: “At 9p.m., the wife became agitated and started looking for him, because he did not keep late hours. Few metres from home, she and the search party saw his car by the roadside, the doors opened and his lifeless body beside it.”
He said: “The widow is my younger sister. We believe it was a clear case of assassination because nothing was taken away from the car, but we only saw some documents scattered on the ground.
“Kidnapping and assassination are rampant now and the state government must be proactive to arrest the situation.”
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti Command, Mr. Alberto Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying the detectives are already on the trail of the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, police have paraded three suspects over the kidnap of Mrs. Oyinlola Ajibola, wife of former member of the House of Assembly, Samuel Ajibola.
The suspects, Adeola Ayodele, Rotimi Onileowo and Sunday Koko, reportedly confessed to the crime, which took place on October 8 at the residence of the victim. Three other members of the gang are still at large.
