Lagos- A 39 year old applicant, Joseph Ijewere who allegedly stole the sum of N2.7million, yesterday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
Ijewere who resides at 11 Bode Thomas Surulere are of Lagos is standing trial on a two count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him.
The prosecutor Sargent Cyriacus Osuji told the court that the defendant consipred with others who are yet to be found to commit that alleged offence.
Osuji said that the incident took place at Masters Furniture in Agungi Lekki, in Eti-Osa local government area of the state, on December 16.
He said that the defendant stole the sum of N2.7million, property of Masters Furniture Ltd.
According to the prosecutor the offence committed is contrary to Section 409 and punishable under section 285 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2011.
However the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Consequently Magistrate Mrs A. T Omoyele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must be gainfully employed show evidence of tax clearance payment to Lagos state and addresses verified.
The case was however adjourned till January 24, for mention.
