BENIN—THREE persons were injured while two vehicles were destroyed, yesterday, when two rival groups protesting for and against the recent bill passed by Edo State House of Assembly, amending the Pension bill which gave N200 million and N100 million worth of houses to past governors of the state and their deputies including Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his Deputy, Dr Pius Odubu, clashed at the popular Oba Ovonramwe Square, Benin City.

Trouble started when some civil society groups on aegis of the Edo State Civil Society Organisation, who were protesting against the bill converged at the gate of the Assembly waiting for the Speaker, Justin Okonobo to address them.
While there, another group, identified as Drivers Rebirth, who commended the State Assembly for passing the pension bill arrived the Assembly, singing solidarity songs in favour of the bill and the state House of Assembly.
Suddenly, fight broke out between the two groups and it took the swift arrival of the police to prevent the situation from further degeneration.
However, three persons were said to have been be wounded while two vehicles were destroyed in the fracas before the police dispersed the crowd.
