The safety record of Arik Air in the last ten years is one of the selling points of the airline and this is why it is currently the only Nigerian airline to have passed the stringent IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) four consecutive times. This was revealed by the   Managing Director, Arik Air, Mr Chris Ndulue during the 10years anniversary media   briefing of the airline.

Ndulue said “ We are the only Nigerian airline to have passed the stringent IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) four consecutive times and as a result we have EIOSA status. Leisure and business travelers have come to trust us because of our stringent rules on safety.”

“We are also proud to be the airline that opened up direct flights to the United States after the demise of Nigerian Airways, when we became the lead carrier in Nigeria’s attainment of US Category 1 Status and with the Part 129 certification by the US Department of Transport. The approval meant any Nigerian airline can now fly direct to the United States.”

Ndulue also said that Arik Air   started scheduled flight operation on October 30, 2006 with only three daily flights between Lagos and Abuja , but “now operates an average of 110 daily flights across a network of 18 domestic, 10 regional and 3 international destinations including Johannesburg, London, and New York”.

Speaking also at the anniversary briefing, the Executive Chairman of Arik Air, Sir Johnson Arumemi,   said Arik Air and Medview Airline saved Nigeria from being blackmailed and held hostage by foreign airlines as the two airlines gave Nigerians who travel to United Kingdom, UK and United States of America, USA, alternatives airlines to use.
