Our last discussion focused on the need to depend solely on God.    This edition is a continuation of that topic from another perspective.

This period in our country is a time of recession.    For us as Christians,      its time to  spend quality time in the presence of the Lord and ask for his intervention.      We need to pray not just for our needs but also for our families, our leaders and our country.

These are times that more people are out of job; those who retain their jobs have to cope with      take home pay that is not taking anyone home.    School fees are on the rise.    One can go on and on. Families are going through a lot of financial and emotional stress.    What do we do?    This is the time to cry unto the Lord and deepen our trust in Him.    It is the time to solely depend on him because that friend of yours      that you are looking unto, to help with your house rent,    or other issues,    is    incapable of meeting his own needs.

The current recession cuts across all strata of  society. The rich, the not so rich, the middle class, the poor, unemployed, all have a feeling of the state of the economy.

The Lord will help us all in Jesus name

Let’s return to      the focus of joyful homes which is      about how to address and overcome spiritual challenges that confront us in life.

Most times, the challenges we have to deal with are man–made.

Some human beings derive joy in making others sad.

How do I know?    I’ll share this story narrated by Pastor Sunday Awe.      He said a young man    had a good home, a good job and everything going well for him. Suddenly, he experienced a turn around that cost him his    job. He sold his car, and could hardly    make ends meet.      He came from point 10 to point zero.

Then, on reflection, he realized that his challenge must be spiritual.

He therefore ran to a man of God who prayed with him. God revealed that someone close to him was responsible for his challenges. He was asked a few questions . While answering these questions his memory came alive.

The man remembered    that one morning, his      wife’s relation    asked him to release his car to her for use.    The man declined, saying, he and his wife needed to use the car, especially, as he knew that the one who made the demand owned a car which iThat was it.      Unknown to him, this relation used his refusal to get at him using the forces of darkness to bring him down and she succeeded.

The enemy will always succeed if we fail to light up our Christian life with the presence of the Lord.

The good news is that , after a hurried prayer, God answered hurriedly.    The man got his job back along with other perquisites of the office.

When we are faced with challenges, we should always    bear in mind, Jeremiah 32 vs. 27 “    I am the God of all flesh: Is anything too hard for me?

How long have you been waiting for      your home to be filled with your biological children?    Five years,    ten years or even 20 years?    Don’t write yourself off, your miracle is on the way.

Are    you troubled about that precious child of yours that is not doing well academically? Or, is it a case of      the failure of every relationship you get into? Are you      beginning to feel inferior to your friends because of your material situation?    Whichever, it is, don’t despair, our God is able.

What gives me such confidence?    Psalm 118 vs 5- 8 is    my authority .    It states: “I called upon the Lord in distress: and the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.    The Lord is on my  side: I will not fear: what can man do unto me?    The Lord taketh my part with that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.    It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man”.

Pastor J.T. Kalejaye; of RCCG emphasizes “ God does not fail, he cannot diminish in power, he cannot die or forsake you”.

What many of us fail to realize is that God is a miracle worker and not a magician. Sometimes, he delivers his promises speedily. At other times, it takes a longer time. What seems a longer time to us human beings is the appropriate time for God.

When praying, we need to be conversant with the Word.    What has the Lord promised? Once you    identify the word that is relevant to your challenge, you must    memorize it and make reference to it while praying.

Holding God to his word is a sure way of  getting a miracle.

Isaiah 55 vs 11    gives us assurance that God honours his word.    It states, “ So shall my word be that goeth  forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the things whereto I sent it”.

Pastor Kalejaye said when we fully depend on the Lord “ your tomorrow will be better and not bitter”.

A turn around is imminent –        Brethren, whatever we are going through, God is able to give us a turn around.      A turn around      is when your tears of sorrow becomes tears of joy.    It is when your mockers are silenced forever.    It is the time when      those who have been laughing at you will begin to laugh with you.

By the grace of God, in the remaining days of this year, whatever has been causing      you to shed tears of sorrow will make you shed tears of joy in the name of Jesus.

I’ll share the testimony of a couple.    The wife is the daughter of a medical doctor.    For this couple, the wife didn’t find it difficult getting pregnant but    has been unable to carry one to term. She lost pregnancies about 20 times and the couple thought of      putting an end to the marriage.

Everything medically possible was done but the challenge would not go.    They, therefore, resorted to prayer. It was not long before, God intervened and she gave birth to a baby boy.

For a woman who has been waiting on the Lord , once she clocks the age of 45, her chances of getting pregnant    and having her child is very slim if not impossible according to medical science.

But      because our God is not limited, we have seen women over 50 years who have taken in and had their babies.

Believe in yourself, trust in God and what seems impossible will soon be called a miracle.

Have you not heard of American music star,    Janet Jackson      taking in for her first child at the age of 50? She announced it with so much joy.    Sister and Brother, this should give you hope. We were not told the pregnancy is a result of IVF but even if it is, it is God that made it possible.    Many people have spent millions of Naira on IVF that has not produced any result.

We have a God that does not charge consultation fee.    Once he remembers you, the yoke will be broken.

In the name of Jesus, before this year ends, you will sing a new song.

Let’s bear in mind,      the word of God in    Lamentations 3 vs. 25 and 26    “ The Lord is good unto them    that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.    It is good that a man should      both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord”.

Brethren, don’t give up.    Be steadfast: Whatever the situation is with you, don’t resort to other ways that run contrary to the word of God.

It may give temporary relief but    the end may be fatal.

My prayer is that as you deepen your trust in the Lord, He will visit you and wipe away your tears in Jesus name.
