The Nigeria Customs Services, NCS, Seme Border Command, weekend, rescued four children from suspected human traffickers.

One Mr. Porsu David was arrested in connection with the crime and handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.

In the same vein, the command also arrested a suspected drug trafficker with 14 wraps of suspected Indian hemp and handed over to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for further investigation.

David’s vehicle, number plates AGL 538 BB, was also impounded by patrol officers along Ashipa-Gbethromey axis in Seme.

Speaking during the handing over of the rescued children, drugs and suspects to the relevant agencies, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Mulima Aminu, disclosed that the action was strictly in line with inter-agency cooperation that existed at the international land border.

Mulima said as the lead agency at the border, the NCS would continue to collaborate with the relevant agencies for effective and efficient border management.

He said as an agency that worked in line with the ethics of securing and managing the borders, in line with the global best practices, it expected other agencies to reciprocate the gesture by giving classified and credible information about smugglers and other unpatriotic elements invol-ved in trans-border vices.
