OWERRI—Over 172 prototype two-bedroom furnished bungalows were yesterday, handed over to some widows in Imo State.

Flagging off the ceremony at Umuagwu, Ikeduru local government area of Imo State, the governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha, said that she was actualizing the building project through the She Needs a Roof Project, SNARP.

“This programme is a continuous one. There is so much to be done for our suffering widows but the means to actualize the dream is extremely meagre”, Mrs. Okorocha said.

Continuing, the First Lady said she was happy that some homeless widows, who had almost lost hope, were today filled with joy.

“What I was unable to do for my mum, I am now able to do it for these helpless, hapless widows”, Mrs. Okorocha said.

Speaking also, the State Chairman, Trade and Commerce Committee, Chief Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, described the housing project as “one of a kind”.

He commended Mrs. Okorocha for the programme, pointing out that “the project has changed the fortune of the benefitting widows.”

Responding, Madam Rosanna Anoruo of Umuagwu, Eziama, Ikeduru local government area, and   Mrs. Agnes Ofoegbu of Mbaitoli local council area of the state, took time to recount their ordeals.
