ALL Progressives Congress (APC) women in Edo state, have issued a 72- hour ultimatum to the suspended Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie, to apologize to women of the state over his alleged attack on one of their own, Mrs. Betty Okoebor or they will drag him to court.
Woman leader of the party in the state, Dr Aisosa Amadasun, who addressed journalists yesterday, called on men in the state, civil society organizations and all Edo women regardless of party affiliations to speak out on the issue, asserting “we need to extract apology from the monarch for the sake of the dignity of our women”.
The state government had on Thursday suspended the monarch for his alleged attack on Mrs Okoebor and failure to respond to the query issued to him by the state government. The government statement further threatened to depose the Onojie if after seven days he fails to tender apologies to the victim and the state government.
However, Dr. Amadasun, who commended the state government for suspending the monarch, said “it will serve as deterrence to those who think the weak has no place in their midst”. “I want to specially thank the state Executive Council for the timely intervention and attempt to right the wrongs perpetrated against one of our own – the weak in the society.
