Super Falcons captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku has dismissed suggestions that the team plans to shun the Africa Women Cup of Nations billed to start next month in Cameroon.
The Super Falcons are the defending champions and are looking to win for the tenth time to make up for the miss of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. However, the Nigerian women are been owed backlog of allowances by the Nigeria Football Federation.
“I don’t know of any play to boycott the tournament. We are aiming to win the title again.

“But the NFF should try and settle monies owed to us so that we can be highly motivated,” said Nwabuoku.
She noted that the Super Falcons represent Nigeria’s only chance of winning a tittle this year after the Super Eagles, Flying Eagles and the Golden Eaglets failed to pick up qualification for the African contests they were listed to participate. “We need to have quality preparations because in Cameroon we going to face teams that equally well prepared. We need all the motivation we can get,” she added.
At the 2014 tournament the Super Falcons played all games wihout collecting any allowances. It was when they won the trophy, that former Sports Minister, Danagogo showed up with money to pay the players.
The team is currently camped in Abuja with home-based players with coach Florence Omagbemi putting the women through their paces. Nigeria will begin their quest in Cameroon on November 20 against Mali, before playing Ghana and Kenya in the group B pairings.
