We’ll preach the change agenda of Buhari – NASFAT

By Haroon Balogun

The Vice President 1 of Nasrul-lahi-l-Fatih society, Alhaji Muhammed Mejinyawa has said the NASFAT will assist the government to preach the change agenda of the government, adding that NAFAT believes in peace and change agenda of the government.

Mejinyawa made this known during a special prayer and lecture organised for Muslim faithful on Arafat day.

“NASFAT as a society has always been attuned with the government. We assist government in preaching their message, especially when such message does not contradict any teaching of Islam. So, the message of President Muhammadu Buhari is that ‘Change’ should also reflect in the life of every Nigerian. We should change our character, attitude to everything around us.

“NASFAT believes that momentum should be sustained in addition to embracing peace. Today, there is plethora of unrest here and there: the avengers, Boko Haram, the herdsmen among others; the tendency to perpetrate all manners of criminality is very high even in Nigeria, so, our message, especially during this sallah season is to embrace peace and join the government in its mission to rescue the nation from all its calamities.”

The deputy Chief Missioner,  Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Onike also harped on the need for special prayers and fasting on Arafat day quoting from the Hadiths that “It is a sin not to believe your sins have not been forgiven on Arafat day.”

When the Prophet (s.aw) was explaining Q5 vrs 3 to Umar that Allah had perfected the religion and Chosen Islam as the religion…’ the Prophet explained that Arafat day would have been chosen as a day of celebration when explaining Q5 vrs 3.

He said: “Whoever fast on the day of Arafat, his sins will be forgiven.” He also added that it is a sin for anyone standing on Arafat and not believing that his sins have been forgiven.  So, by Implication, it means all the 1.5million pilgrims on Arafat have been cleansed of their sins. It is a special day and highly spiritual and that is why we organised a symbolic prayer, and we enjoined our members to fast on the Arafat day. The opportunity we have today is like the last nine days of Ramadan.

Earlier, the Assistant Corps Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ikeja Unit, Mr. Wale Odekunle addressed thousands of NASFAT members on the need to adhere to safety tips and take precautionary measures before setting out on the road to their various destinations or eid-el-Kabir celebration.
