•As Ikorodu vow to give them heartbreak
Rangers International Football Club of Enugu have not won the Nigerian top flight in 34 years. With two matchesend of the current season and with the Coal City outfit sitting atop the table, it is believed that this is, perharps the best time for them to break the jinx and become Nigeria champion to the s again. They travel to Abeokuta to face Ikorodu United in this weekend’s NPFL clash. The outcome of this encounter will either make or mar Rangers hope of clinching the title.
Rangers were in devastating form as they whitewashed Ikorodu United 4-1 in thereverse fixture at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu. That was in the first stanza of the league.

Ikorodu United lads who lost last weekend to Plateau United in Jos have vowed to stop Rangers’ title challenge with a victory.
It is a threat the Enugu kings must take seriously as the Oga Boys have witnessed an upward swing in their fortunes since the coming of Dutch coach, Theo de Jong, who was described by former Super Eagles forward, Daniel Amokachi as being as good as legendary Johan Cryuff.
De Jong has told his already relegated side not to give in easily to Rangers who are a step away from the title. “We have to fight to the last match,”he said, pointing out that “Rangers should not think they have won it yet.”
The Ikorodu club have shown a lot of resilience of late, beating the likes of Kano Pillars, Heartland of Owerri and league champions, Enyimba International of Aba.
It is left to be seen whether Rangers can match their boast with action as the battle line is drawn for this Sunday at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta.
Rangers are not taking chances in their bid to win the league title this term. The state government flew the players to Lagos yesterday to make the short one-hour road trip to Abeokuta, venue of the match.
