Two of the three-member Helen Bendega-led committee had called for the cancellation of the election result citing several malfeasance to underscore their position.
However, the National Working Committee, NWC of the party had met on Thursday and forwarded the name of the winner of the exercise, Rotimi Akeredolu to the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC as its candidate in the forth coming gubernatorial elections.
Reacting to a newspaper report (not Vanguard) that its national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun over-ruled the NWC and unilaterally forwarded Akeredolu’s name to INEC, the party said it unanimously arrived at the decision having identified some fundamental flaws in the report of the appeal committee.
