The Centre for Public Accountability, CPA, has said it had commenced the process of getting an order from the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission, ICPC, to probe the National Pension Commission, PENCOM, under its present leadership.

A statement by the Executive Director of CPA, Mr. Olufemi Johnson, said it decided to demand the investigation through its lawyers, Messrs Dotun Ajulo and Ola Adeosun given the need to probe the management of pension fund in Nigeria.

The statement partly reads: ‘’To us as Nigerians, we see the high level of corruption as what cannot be overlooked and we affirm that the commission is bedevilled by multiple infractions, violations of the law and widespread corruption that warrant the immediate attention of these agencies.

“The allegations against the Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu-led management of the PENCOM are despicable to the level that they cannot be ignored and these persons cannot be allowed to continue to manage such strategic national institution.”

The CPA recently petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari, EFCC and ICPC demanding immediate investigation into the activities of the pension body.
