Alimodu-Sheriff
By Ben Agande
Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has rejected some of the proposals made by the Board of Trustees. BoT, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, towards the resolution of the leadership impasse in the party.
In a statement in Abuja yesterday, by Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh, former deputy chairman of the party, Sheriff’s faction stated that for peace to return to the party and for genuine reconciliation to take place, Senator Ahmed Makarfi should resign as chairman of the caretaker committee which should be desolved.
He also called for the reconstitution of the BoT in order to move the party forward.
It will be recalled that the BoT, at the end of its meeting on Monday, passed a vote of no confidence on the Makarfi-led Caretaker committee.
It also resolved that the next convention of the party should be held in Abuja and urged the Caretaker Committee to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee to ratify some decisions that would move the party forward.
But in a statement yesterday, Dr Ojuogboh accused the BoT, headed by Senator Walid Jibrin, of precipitating the crisis in the party.
According to him, the decision of the Board of Trustees at its meeting on Monday fell short of the decision reached with the Dickson/Mantu reconciliation committee.
