Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and one-time governorship aspirant, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has appealed to politicians to support Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s SMART agenda so as to create entrepreneurs and industrialists instead of followers.
Onuesoke, who gave the advice as key speaker during the flag-off of NPDC OML 30 skill acquisition training programme organized by NPDC for oil producing communities in Delta State, said politicians should think of supporting the SMART agenda by establishing small scale industries for youths instead of giving empowerment tools like cash, vehicles and salaries they did not work for.
“When you open a store of one full trailer load of cement for a youth, that youth has been empowered for life. He or she will not come to you again begging for alms. Instead, such a youth will become an employer of labour, thereby contributing to the development of the community,” Onuesoke stated.
Onuesoke equally spoke on the need to develop artisans such as mechanics, carpenters and tailors to embrace the modern trend so that they can be useful to themselves and the society in the course of plying their trade.
