OZORO—Isoko people under the auspices of Isoko Renaissance Group, IRG, yesterday, decried their marginalisation by the Federal Government in the recent appointments into the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The group explained that for the sake of justice and fair play, an Isoko son or daughter should be the one to occupy the position of the Executive Director, Projects in the current board of NDDC, zoned to the Delta South senatorial district.

In an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Patron, Isoko Development Union, Abuja branch, Elder Moses Akpotabor and the Secretary General, Isoko Renaissance Group, Esanerovo Agbodo, they called on the President to intervene in the matter, describing same as an injustice.

They said: “Isoko people have been marginalised on the issue of political appointments both at the state and national levels. So, now on the issue of NDDC appointment, both Delta South Central senatorial zones are demanding for justice and fair play.”

“Delta South senatorial zone is comprised of the good people of Isoko, Ijaw and Itsekiri. The Ijaws are currently occupying the Senate position and the Itsekiris have just done eight years of governorship in Delta State.

“Therefore, legally, morally and according to the executive positions rotation understanding in the Act establishing the NDDC, an Isoko son should now occupy the position of the Executive Director, Projects.”
