Kelechi Iheanacho
The young Manchester City striker sat alongside Pep Guardiola Tuesday’s pre-match press conference prior to the Champions League Playoff second leg against Steaua Bucharest, and after an amazing 5-0 win in the first leg, Iheanacho could start at the Etihad as Guardiola is expected to make rotations to the squad.
The Nigerian spoke about his expectations to start on Wednesday, as well as his new contract with the club and playing with Sergio Agüero. Here’s a few quotes from Iheanacho:
“I’m very happy to sign a new contract. I’m ready to work hard. You need to work hard as a player to get your chance and I’m doing everything I can to get my chance. If I’m in the team, I’m going to do my best and try to do everything we do in training.
“I haven’t had any private discussions with Pep. He has the final decision on the team and I have to work hard to be in his team. We have a target as a team but we don’t have individual targets. We’re working hard together to achieve the team’s targets.
“It was a dream come true to play last season. I’ll be hoping to achieve more this season for the team.
“Sergio is a great striker and I’m learning from him. It’s not pressure for me to play alongside him. Everyone is working together as a team. As a striker you need to defend as well so it’s not just about scoring goals.”
