ABUJA—SENIOR Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has urged President Muhammed Buhari, to beam his searchlight on Pro-Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors of Nigeria’s universities in his fight against corruption, saying there was massive graft in the system.

The union also condemned militancy and terrorism ravaging many parts of country and observed that no country developed amid insecurity. It called on the Federal Government to do the needful by engaging agitators in dialogue for peace to reign in the country.

The National President of SSANU, Comrade Samson Chijioke Ugwoke, in his remarks at the association’s National Executive Council, NEC meeting, held at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, also urged the Federal Government to embark on training and retraining programmes for the Nigeria Police to reduce incidences of accidental discharge which has claimed the lives of innocent citizens.

The union called on the government to reduce the number of police escorts attached to politicians and political office holders to ensure that the Police performs their constitutional duties for the good of the generality of Nigerians.

He further frowned on the attitude of some state governors who are on their second tenure for allegedly treating their people as second hand citizens and embarking on programmes that have no direct impact on the people and even owing workers in the state for several months.
