Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, the D’Tigers preparing for next month’s Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil suffered a 22-point loss to Argentina in the 4-Nation Stankovic Cup in Beijing, China and battle France in the last game of the competition today.
The Nigerian side who beat host China on Day 1 of the competition on Tuesday, lost 49-71 to Argentina who lost their opener to France on Tuesday. France with two wins now top the table with four points while Argentina and Nigeria have three points each.
Assistant Coach of the team, Ayinla Johnson said that the tournament serves as a good training for the African Champions on the way to Rio, hoping that the players will pay attention to every detail of what they are being taught.
“We (the team) can be really good if the boys pay more attention or really buy into what they are being taught,” he said, adding, “there are lot of rooms for improvement, time and how quickly they pick things up will determine where we will finish in the Olympics,” he wrote from China.
