CIIN seeks recognition of professional qualification in civil service

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has said that discussions have reached an advanced stage with the office of the Head of Service of the Federation to gazette the Institute’s professional qualifications for employment purposes in the Civil Service. The move is in a bid to ensure that graduates of the College of Insurance and Financial Management Studies (CIFM) secure employment in government institutions across the various levels of government in the country.

Affordable housing: Stakeholders seek local mortgage financing solutions

As part of efforts to ensure that Nigerians have easy access to affordable housing, stakeholders in the housing sector have called for the adoption of local solutions to mortgage financing in the country. The call formed part of the recommendations in a communiqué issued by the stakeholders at the end of the recently concluded 2016 Affordable Housing Summit in Abuja. The summit was the culmination of series of consultations amongst government and non-government stakeholders in the housing industry and is intended to generate the framework for a robust policy for affordable housing delivery in Nigeria. Participants made several recommendations, which are presented on the basis of five thematic issues/pillars, namely: Lands, finance, Concessions and incentives, strategic focus on off-takers and, skills development and technology.

2016 Copa Coca-Cola: Oyo State wins as Okocha ‘steals’ show

Oyo state’s Asegun Comprehensive High School defeated the National Grammar School, Nike, Enugu state at the 2016 edition of the Copa Coca-Cola boys U-15 soccer tournament at the national final match played at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island.
