Two persons, yesterday, narrowly escaped death as the gun of an orderly attached to a Senator accidentally discharged when he tried to remove the margazine before boarding a flight at the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The orderly and a woman standing by were injured on the legs. According to eye witness account , the orderly who was to travel on Arik Air and wanted to lodge his gun, which is a standard practice on air travel, but the gun released a bullet that splinted and hit both the man and woman on the leg as he bent down to pull the magazine out of the gun.

President Muhammadu Buhari has regretted that former renown politician and Marafan Sokoto, late Umaru Shinkafi died when his experience and wisdom were “badly needed in the efforts to move Nigeria forward.” He however said that the deceased distinguished himself and would live beyond the grave because the country would continue to remember his immeasurable contributions for years to come.

The Nasarawa State Chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) yesterday shutdown the activities of government in the state over workers’salaries cut by 50 percent. NLC Chairman, Com Abdullahi Adeka, and that of the TUC Danladi Sabo-Namo, who announced the actions of the union while briefing newsmen in Lafia said the indefinite strike action by the workers in the state was due to the failure of the state government to honour the demand of the union by refusing to reverse its decision on the salaries cut by over 50 percent.

THE federal government yesterday lashed out at the Niger/Delta Avengers saying that they are not freedom fighters but economic warriors fighting for their own private pockets. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said this while delivering the second foundation lecture of Elizade University,Ilaramokin, Ondo state entitled “The Future is here earlier than we thought”. According to him the so call avengers “are not freedom fighters but fighting for their own economic benefits.

Narrating his ordeal, Andre who studied computer science and mathematics at the University of Calabar, Cross River State, said that inside the prison, they have special section for VIPs, where inmates who have the resources pay between N30,000 to N100,000 depending on how well furnished the rooms are. Some of the VIP rooms, according to findings, have fans and radio. Such inmates, Crime Guard gathered, are allowed to use mosquito nets, iPhones and iPads. Further findings revealed that they also watch movies while the general cells are for inmates who can’t afford the VIP cells.

The setting was Federal High Court, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state. The date was June 22, 2016. The court was already in session as the trial judge, Justice Ajiya Nganjiwa, asked the court registrar to call the next case. The registrar rose up and said “suit number FHC/YNG/C8/51/2016 between the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa Versus 121 Unknown Corpses”. Everyone in the courtroom exchanged glances. What offences could the corpses have committed that the government would charge them to court. Will the prosecution bring the corpses to court or will the corpses have counsel to defend them. Observers were curious about what the case was all about. But their curiousity gave way to relief when they later discovered that the suit, being a motion ex-parte that did not require the presence of the other party.

I have been having a lot of trouble with my husband. It’s not necessarily trouble, but I’ve been unhappy for a long time. Lately, nothing seems good between us anymore.
