The exercise which commenced with the opening up of the drains and underground tunnels that link rain waters to the River Niger, was a part of the determined effort of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to stop the persistent flooding in the capital territory.
The exercise which is being handled by the Director-General, Special Programmes, Chief Frank Omare, a former Commissioner for Environment in the state, commenced at 7a.m., from the Ibusa Road axis of the state capital where over seven tunnels and drainages were opened to allow free flow of water whenever it rains.
