ABUJA—The Federal Government has said that it has reached an agreement with the state governments in the Niger Delta region and some investors to fast tract the development of the region.
The understating is part of efforts to ensure better coordination of projects to avoid previous situation where the federal, state and local governments do things independently in the Niger Delta region, which are often times detrimental to the socio- economic and industrial development of the region.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Uguru Usani, who spoke to newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State at a media briefing after a meeting with the governors of the states in the Niger Delta region and some investors, said there was need for partnership to correct the anomaly.
Noting that it was not possible for the stakeholders to do things in isolation, the minister said: “We have reached an accord to guarantee a working relationship for the good of the people of the the Niger Delta region.”
