Minna—FOR the first time in many years, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd) could not join other Muslim faithful for the two Rakaat prayers at the Minna Eid praying ground, without explanation.
However, he observed the prayers to mark the end of the 30 Ramadan prayers at his uphill residence with members of his immediate family and close associates.
His absence may not be unconnected with his health.
However, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, (retd) the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, and other top government officials visited Gen. Babangida in his residence immediately after the congregational prayers at the Eid praying ground to felicitate with him on the Eid-El-Fitr.
Muslim clerics there offered prayers for the good health of the elder statesman and for peace to reign in the country in general.
Former Head of state, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar had called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and enjoined the Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the Ramadan which centered on peace, tolerance and sacrifice adding that development can only strive where there is peace.
