Dr. Sheidu Sule of the Dept. of Education Administration, University of Lagos, has advised graduates of Krisbethel College, Ipaja, Lagos, to be dedicated and consistent if they intend to achieve their dreams no matter how big or small.
He made this known at the 13th Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Day of the school, where he delivered the keynote address titled; Follow your Dreams as a representative of Prof. S.C. Madumere of the same department.
Sule, whose speech was directed at 37 graduates (21 girls and 16 boys), said: “Dedication and consistency are very important in achieving your dreams no matter how big or small they are. Do not be afraid of failing. Always keep your mind on your dreams. Break them down into small and medium objectives. Set targets to achieve them in bits. Be smart, be specific, be sure they are realisable and time-bound. Be ready to make sacrifices, put God first, put fear away and be optimistic.”
Speaking for the last time as principal of the school, following her retirement from service, Ms. Oluwatoyin Solarin, admonished the graduates to always reflect good values. “As you move up to another step on the rung of academic ladder, I admonish you to always reflect on all the good values learnt on this ground as they are propellers that are bound to move and guide you into a brilliant and extraordinarily successful life. Your moving above this level takes you into a world ripe with challenges and confusion. Remember that your training here has built in you the ability to always rise above them all. Hence, be connected to your in-built values and feel the true joy of living.”
The Proprietress, Mrs. C.O Ojo, frowned at a situation where parents make SS1 and SS2 students take WAEC or GCE, when they are not ripe, stating that education is a gradual process. Just as the Proprietor, Chief D.A Ojo, reiterated that the rules of the school are aimed at moulding the students so that anywhere they go, they will be stars.
“We are doing our quota in reconstructing Nigeria by bringing into society, with the support of parents, well brought up children that will be nation-builders, as our focus is on academics and morals,” Chief Ojo said.
