lagos—Controversy is trailing the whereabout of the seized Salora Toyota where a pistol and four rounds of ammunition were found on Saturday at Five Star Logistics Terminal, Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.

It was gathered from Five Star Logistics that Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Tin Can Command, and Police Unit at Tin-can Island port, at the time of this report, were trading blames over where the seized items were.

The source claimed that there might be moves to release the items discretely without the knowledge of the management of the command.

Public Relations Officer of the NCS Tin-can Island command, Chris Osunkwo, said: “it is not possible to release both items because officers know the implications of such an action.”

He however expressed surprise that about 3pm yesterday, the case was yet to been reported to the command’s helmsman.

Osunkwo told Vanguard that the Customs Area Controller, CAC, had directed the Officer in Charge of enforcement to look into the case and get back to him.

According the Osunkwo, “ The Controller is surprised that he has not been informed but he has detailed O/C enforcement to look into it and report back to him.”

Recall that dockworkers at Five Star Logistics Terminal, Tin-can Island Port, Saturday at about 1pm discovered one pistol and four rounds of ammunition hidden in a Toyota Salora car being discharged from the ship, M. V. XEBRING Express with voyage no. 16SE05.
