LAGOS Seasiders defied the early morning rain  yesterday to thrash Idah Pillars 35-31 at the ongoing 3rd Sam Ocheho-InnJoo International Handball Championship holding at Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba,  Lagos.

The Seasiders who have proved themselves a force to reckon with in the game of handball thrilled handball enthusiasts with their beautiful jumpshots and fast breaks and leaving no one in doubt about their mission in the match as they wasted no time in despatching the boys from Idah in Kogi state.

Another explosive match that captured the fancy of the fans at the Park was that  between Delta Force and ‘old war horses’ Sokoto Rima which was keenly contested and ended 25-24 in favour of the Delta Force

Unlike their male team, their female side were unlucky as the Defence Babes of Abuja whipped them  30-21 in the female category. The ASPAC of Benin Republic continued with their winning streak as they brightened their stake for the trophy after they defeated Queens of Cote  d’Ivoire by 20-12

Reacting to their victory yesterday, Chief coach of the Defence Babes, Sunday Ajala gave his girls a pat on the back for the good job done.

“My girls have done us proud today as they came out smoking to humiliate the Lagos Seasiders Babes. We had to go all out to beat them after we have corrected our minor mistakes because we had earlier lost two games and won two. So we need to be in contention for the trophy and the star prize for the female”, he said.
