Gov. Ikpeazu

UMUAHIA—HUNDREDS of PDP supporters from the 17 local government areas of Abia State, yesterday, thronged the Umuahia Government House in a solidarity visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over his sack because of tax evasion by an Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang.
The party members and supporters took off in a procession from the party’s Finbbers Road secretariat where they were addressed by the State Chairman, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, before proceeding to Government House.
Leaders of the party who led the procession, including former senate president Chief Adolphus Nwabara and Chairman of Umuahia South Council, Randy Ukanwoke, who spoke for them, said that they were in Government House in solidarity with Governor Ikpeazu’s administration, which they said has brought hope to the people of the state within its one year tenure in office.
According to them, “it was not justifiable to remove the mandate of the people and “give to someone who did not contest or solicit for their votes because of pre-election issue of tax payment”.
Displaying some placards, some of which bore inscriptions as “No justice on Abang judgment,” “We want Ikpeazu as our governor,” “Ikpeazu has bettered our lives,” “Stop the gang-up against our governor,” “We have confidence in the judiciary,” “He shall win again,” among others, said that their confidence in the governor had even grown stronger.
