PORT HARCOURT—Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is to meet with 50 leaders of the Niger Delta in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Thursday over the escalating violence in the region.
Executive Director, Associates Peaceworks, Dr Judy Asuni, who disclosed this to Vanguard said, that the European Union and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development are providing support for the close-door security summit.
She said that the international community was deeply disturbed by the escalating violence in the region, adding that the meeting is to discuss how to achieve enduring peace in the area.
She expressed hope that the summit will find a way out of the ugly situation in the region.
