The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu has called on all agencies under the Ministry to work together in tacking challenges facing the country.

Dr Onu gave the charge at the flagging off of a two-week Hands-On Training for Rural Youths and women Potters on the Design, fabrication and Installation of Locally Made Metal and Clay-Based Energy-Efficient (Eco-Friendly) Wood Cookstoves in Ushafa, a suburb of the Federal capital territory (FCT).

He said the call became necessary as the activities of the agencies either jointly or individually touch on every facet of national life.

“It is for this reason that they are here to work together in the area of research and development to create alternative energy, power generation”.

The Minister said that Nigeria should not continue to depend on one source of energy.

In his remarks, the Country representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Pa Lamin Beyai, said that the training is part of many research efforts to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the risk often associated with traditional cooking methods.
