Akure—THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, warned governorship aspirants and political parties in Ondo State to stop forthwith their campaign  for the election or face the full wrath of the law.

It has therefore written to the police and law enforcement agencies to  bring to book any of the aspirants and parties contravening the 90 days before the proper election stipulated by the electoral law for the commencement of campaigns.

The Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, of the commission, Olusegun Agbaje, gave the warning in Akure at a briefing on the commencement of the conduct of Continuous Voters Registration CVR, ahead of the November 26 governorship election in the state.

Agnaje expressed concern that many of the aspirants and political parties have been juncketing across the state campaigning for the election before the time stipulated by the electoral law.

He pointed out that the commission had written to the aspirants and political parties that have been contravening the electoral law to desist or be ready to face the full weight of the law.

On the November 26 governorship election, the REC  assured that the card reader would be used during the election.
