His Royal Majesty Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi ( Kusenla III of Ikate Kingdom in Lagos) will kick off the first opening ceremony of the Olympic Day Run starting with the art exhibition and cultural dance\ dance drama while debate and quiz competition comes up tomorrow.

According to Augustine Odijire, Oba Elegushi would lead a high profile retinue of invited guests to the Sportscity for the academic session of the Olympic Day Run to ensure the positive values of the Olympic Movement – Excellence, Friendship and Respect are promoted.

Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the Olympic Day on Saturday. Many states of the federation would also roll out activities to celebrate the Olympic Day especially with less privileged Nigerians engaging in walking for life.

Former Olympian and Chairman of NOC Sports Commission, Henry Amike who has been at the vanguard to encourage young and old alike to get involved in the Olympic Day for sport, cultural and educational activities said that they would also uphold the three pillars of Olympic Day which are Move, Learn and Discover.

Amike a former record holder for Nigeria said  that through these messages, sports organizations today are promoting the benefits of physical exercise, inspiring people to get active and enabling them to discover new sports while embracing the Olympic ideals regardless of ability or background.
