Efforts by some Benin elders to persuade the deputy governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu to step down for Dr Chris Ogienwonyi has failed.

It was learnt some of the elders had been pressing Odubu to step down for Ogienwonyi to enable them defeat Mr Godwin Obaseki who is being backed by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Odubu reportedly rejected the proposal and rather, asked Ogienwonyi to step down for him since he is the one that has the political structure to fight Obaseki.

Mr Samson Osagie, Odubu’s supporter dismissed the rumour of Odubu stepping down saying it as the work of detractors.
