ENUGU—Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has charged members of the newly reconstituted State Board of Internal Revenue to raise their performance bar and develop strategies that would achieve substantial increase in the internally generated revenue in the state.

Ugwuanyi who made the charge during the formal inauguration of the reconstituted Board, noted that the Internal Revenue Service in the state was crucial to the economic well-being of the government to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state, especially “in these days of severe national economic depression that is threatening the solvency of government at all levels”
The governor also charged the Board, which has a seasoned banker, financial expert and luxury real estate operator, Mr. Chukwuemeka Anthony Odo as Chairman, to ensure the effective collection of all the revenue accruable to the government as well as checkmate all avenues of leakages and wastages in the process.
