BENIN—A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State, Mr. Solomon Odemwingie, has described a governorship aspirant of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as a ‘Winning Hope` in the September I0, 2016 election.

Odemwingie who spoke on behalf of Ize-Iyamu when some youths visited him in his house, weekend. in Benin, said that the governorship aspirant was the only one who could break the winning apparatus of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He appealed to delegates of the party to this months’ governorship primaries to give Pastor Ize-Iyamu the governorship ticket, describing him as a crowd puller and an inspirational icon in the political arena.

He said: “Indeed, I see him as a winning hope for the party and if you so agree with me, let us urge our party leaders to give him the ticket and be sure of reclaiming the state. By this appeal, I am not saying that other aspirants are not good enough. Certainly, they are eminently qualified but there can never be more than one governor at a time. The battle we are in is a serious one because we are not in the federal, state or local government.”

He told the youths that as the Ize-Iyamu campaign organisation was about to wind up its operations for the nomination, Pastor Ize-Iyamu himself has handed the affairs of the nomination to the mighty hands of God, who in turn will use the good people of the PDP in the state to earn this objective.

He also informed them that the tree planted in Edo State by the APC were withering speedily, adding that on September 10 this year, the trees would be rooted completely by PDP desert storm
