
Oshiomhole

BENIN CITY—EDO State House of Assembly has passed a resolution authorising Governor Adams Oshiomhole to source the sum of N14.6billion from the Federal Government as budget support facility.
This was sequel to a letter from the state government requesting the state Assembly’s approval which was discussed at an emergency session of the House.
Resolution of Parliament is a condition required by the state government to access the funds expected to support development and running cost of governance in the state.
Majority Leader of the House, Foly Ogedengbe explained that the fund was similar to a bailout which interest and repayment will be statutorily deducted from source.
Other lawmakers while supporting the request described the budget support fund as timely as that will not only enable the Governor Oshiomhole finish well “but finish strong.”
Speaker of the House, Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie commended members for their contributions and emphasized that the fund was needed for development in the state.
