Bayelsa govt set to launch website on transparency

Yenagoa—Bayelsa  State Government will today launch its website, tagged ‘the Bayelsa Watch’ to enable the public access the state monthly income and expenditure.

According to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Jonathan Obuebite, the creation of the website was in line with the government’s policy of transparency and accountability.

The website, according to him, would be domiciled in the state Ministry of Information and Orientation, and will enable the people of the state have unfettered access to information, especially on issues relating to the finances of the state.

Describing the new development as an improvement on the existing transparency initiatives, the commissioner maintained that, the monthly presentation of the state’s un-audited account to the general public would go a long way in reducing speculations on the financial transactions of the administration.
