NLC, TUC lauded for contribution to economic growth

The National President, North-east Youth Peace Development and Empowerment Initiative, NEYPDI, Alhaji Kyari Idris Abubakar has commended members of Nigeria Labour Congress, NUC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, for their contribution to the growth of the economy.

Abubakar in a statement to mark the 2016 workers’ day described the contribution of workers to the economic growth of the country since independence as legendary which cannot be overlooked.

He said, “Nigerian workers despite the economic hardship, has demonstrated patriotism and competence over the years.”

He urged workers to support the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption in the country.

“The cooperation of Nigerian workers is needed in the present war against corruption in the country. There is no way the war can be successful without the support of workers at all levels”.

In another development, Abubakar commended the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. (rtd) Abdulraham Dambazzau for his personal efforts and commitment to end insurgency in the north-east region.

“We members of north-east youths are grateful for the concern demonstrated by the minister of interior as shown in his visit to the area several times to ensure that the battle against insurgency is won.”

Abubakar also commended President Buhari for keeping to his campaign promise of ending insurgency in the area.

He expressed confidence in the ability of President Buhari to deliver on all the election promises judging by the way he was able to subdue insurgency in less than one year.

He further appealed to Mr. President to confirm the appointment of EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu whom he said has performed very well as acting chairman.

The  NEYPDI president, however, appealed to President Buhari to confirm the appointment of Mr. Magu because within the past six months of his acting capacity, he has performed well”.
